This month, I am led to remind Christians of kingdom readiness.

There is a story from the book of Matthew 25:1-13 in the Bible that talks about the ten Virgins and compared them to the Kingdom of heaven.

The Scripture makes it clear that 5 were foolish and 5 were WISE.

Wisdom is your ability to judge correctly as well as following the right course of action based on your knowledge and understanding.

If you desire wisdom, ask of God as he gives generously to those who ask - James 1:5

Now the foolish virgins took their lamps without extra oil but the WISE virgins took their lamps with extra oil.

The foolish Virgins had lamps without any oil, therefore their lamps were useless. Oil is required for the lamp to give up light; in reference to our lives, we need the word of God to walk in discipline while fulfilling Gods promise for us.

If we do not implement the word of God in our lives; we become as empty lamps and ineffective in our calling and ministry.

There were three stages to a Jewish wedding in those days. The first was engagement - a formal agreement made by the fathers. The second was betrothal - the ceremony where mutual promises are made. The third was marriage - approximately one year later when the bridegroom came at an unexpected time for his bride.

This celebration was at a time when the bridegroom came for the bride and no one knew the exact time he would arrive.

We do not know the day nor the hour Jesus will come so we ought to always be ready, spirit-filled, and doing what is required of us as children of God. Stop slumbering and backsliding in the faith for the time the Lord will come, no one knows.

When the Bridegroom came to the WISE Virgins went in for the wedding but the Foolish had to get oil for their lamps and when they returned later, the door was shut before them and they were not allowed into the wedding.

The foolish Virgins had waited till the last minute but because they were unprepared, they did not enter the ceremony. How disappointing it is to wait for something and the door gets shut before you at the last moment.

I pray this is not your portion in Jesus' Name.

Answer these Questions.

Is there oil in your lamp? If Jesus comes today will heaven be your destination?

As you enter this month of July, let it be a reminder that you should be Wise and abide in the word of God for not even the son knoweth the day that the Lord will return.
