Every day there are millions of people go about their lives worrying about the basic things life has to offer. Mothers worry about their children's future, wellness, education, family, husbands, etc. Fathers are worried about finances, jobs, food for their household, their daughters, etc. Ministers worry about the ministry God has placed in their hands, Couples worry about their spouses, and children worry about what will become of them when their parents are no longer around. Worries are like clouds hanging over us and as long as you keep giving in to them, they will surely have dominion over you.
According to the Mariam-Webster dictionary, "worry is defined as to feel or show fear and concern because you think that something bad has happened or could happen"
This week on LCY midnight prayer, I have been leading prayer and scriptures in regard to the effects of worrying on a believer's life but before sharing those with you I would like for you to take a few minutes and pray to the Lord submitting all your worries to him...
Effects of worries:
Takes away a believer's Joy
Discourages believers
Takes a believer's focus from their present moment
Causes hopelessness
Draws believers away from their prayer life
Causes Procrastination
Causes physical illness
Causes Fear
The Scripture from Matthew 6:25-34 clearly speaks about worrying. God helps us to understand in this passage that we are more valuable than the birds whom he cares for and he can provide every need of ours.
Do not worry about tomorrow, therefore If you must worry, worry only about the things of today. Most of our worry is over things that we have absolutely no control over anyway and are therefore foolish as well as harmful.
Make it a priority to focus on the day for which you are in, do not let worry have control over you, but you should control your thoughts. It is okay to remember the past without letting it consume you and it is okay to plan for the future but don't let it be your focus.
God wants us to remember the past, and plan for the future, and live in the present.
You possess the authority to overcome the effects of worry, so take charge of your life and speak positively about your future but make sure that you fulfill all that God wants you to fulfill for the day.
God Bless all of you and let the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
