Emotions, Emotions, Emotions, don’t let this get the best of you. Like we discussed, a human consist of a body, soul and Spirit. The soul of a person has to do with where our Emotions come from. Our emotions are how we react to situations and people in our life which is shown in our actions and reactions. How do you react when a spouse cheats? Someone lies to you? When you are ignored? When you are dishonored? When someone gossips about you? When someone hits you?

Some emotions are:

•Fear → feeling afraid.

•Anger → feeling angry. ...

•Sadness → feeling sad. ...

•Joy → feeling happy. ...

•Disgust → feeling something is wrong or nasty.

•Surprise → being unprepared for something.

•Trust → a positive emotion;

Emotions can be negative or positive based on the situation and our individual experiences in life. As people of God, we must and should have control over our emotions in certain situations. Galatians 5, states; But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. Emotions that are contrary to God’s will for us will lead us to sin, for example, the desire of the flesh to pay back an evil deed or to hurt those who hurt us are fleshly and does not bring glory unto God. A desire to be violent or abusive with our words and body language when we are angry does not glorify God. In Exodus 20, God told Moses and Aaron to take the rod, gather the assembly of people and speak unto the rock before their eyes. Moses being upset with the complaints and nagging of the people, he came out with anger, he called the people of God rebels (be careful how you address God’s people) and struck the rock twice and the water came out abundantly but God was not pleased with this act. Moses allowed his anger to lead him to violence and words that were abusive to Gods people. Because God was not glorified in the situation, the entire congregation was band from entering the promise land. Do you out of anger turn away from following Gods instruction? Do you allow your emotions to get the best of you? Before you act, say a prayer. Ask yourself, will this bring glory to God?

The effect of change from negative to a more positive emotion is the ability to have self control; you will control what you do and how you react. it will save you stress, time and heart issues. you will be calmer and more in tone with God.

Prayer

Lord I thank you for showing me that I have not control my emotions as I should and it has allow me to sin against you and only you. Forgive me today and teach me how to control my emotions on a daily basis and before I take a step of destruction please remind me of who I am in you. in Jesus Name.
